ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s mining industry is entering a new chapter as PT Merdeka Gold Resources Tbk (EMAS) officially commences ore feeding at the Pani Gold Mine in Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province.
The process—feeding ore into the processing facility—marks the launch of the plant’s operational phase and the critical first step toward gold extraction.
The company is targeting its first gold pour in the first quarter of 2026, a milestone that underscores the project’s steady progress.
EMAS President Director Boyke Poerbaya Abidin described the achievement as a testament to the team’s hard work and strong support from key stakeholders.
“We are grateful that the project is progressing according to plan toward first gold in early 2026. This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire team and the continued support of stakeholders,” Boyke said in an official statement on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
83% Complete: Pani on Track to Become One of Indonesia’s Largest Gold Mines
As of the end of October 2025, construction progress at the Pani Gold Mine has reached 83%, including development of the heap leach pad, ADR plant, and key supporting infrastructure.
The project boasts an impressive 190 million tonnes of ore reserves containing approximately 4.8 million ounces of gold. Its Mineral Resource Estimate stands at 292.4 million tonnes with more than 7 million ounces of contained gold, positioning Pani as one of Indonesia’s largest primary gold mines.
“Pani is designed as a low-cost, long-life operation. As part of the Merdeka Group (MDKA), EMAS plays a strategic role in strengthening the group’s multi-metal portfolio,” Boyke added.
Advancing ESG Commitments: EMAS Secures REC with PLN
Reaffirming its commitment to sustainable mining practices, EMAS has signed an agreement with Indonesia’s state utility PLN to source renewable electricity through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) mechanism.
“Disciplined construction, the use of environmentally friendly technologies, and our commitment to responsible mining practices position EMAS to deliver long-term value,” Boyke emphasized.
With major milestones achieved on schedule and backed by significant resource potential, EMAS is confident that the Pani project will contribute meaningfully to Merdeka Group’s growth while creating long-term value for shareholders and local stakeholders. (AT Network)
