ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, has partnered with Ammana, a licensed Sharia-compliant peer-to-peer lending platform in Indonesia, to offer inDrive.Money. After receiving a positive response in Mexico and Colombia, Indonesia becomes the first country in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region to benefit from the introduction of inDrive.Money—an accessible and practical financial solution designed to help drivers cover urgent expenses such as vehicle repairs and daily necessities.
Gig workers worldwide struggle to access financial services due to their informal employment status, and Indonesian drivers are no exception. Traditional financial institutions often require proof of income, making it difficult for them to secure financing and forcing them to rely on informal lenders with high commissions.
To bridge this gap, inDrive and Ammana have introduced a fair and transparent financial service, ensuring that Indonesian drivers can access funds when they need them. Through inDrive.Money, drivers can now obtain cash loans of up to IDR 10,000,000 to cover urgent expenses like vehicle repairs and daily living costs.
Loan repayments are automatically deducted from each trip a driver takes, with 10-15% of each fare directly allocated toward installments. This system ensures on-time payments without additional fees. Drivers also have the option to make direct payments to Ammana if needed. Each driver is assigned a personalized minimum monthly payment, and the repayment period ranges from three to five months, depending on the loan amount.
Early marketing data from inDrive’s driver survey indicates strong demand, with 80% of drivers and couriers expressing interest in sector-specific financial products after receiving a promotional offer.
Mark Loughran, President of inDrive, stated, “We have already transformed the ride-hailing industry by introducing a pricing model that prioritizes users’ interests, allowing passengers and drivers to negotiate fares rather than relying on opaque algorithms. Now, we are also addressing similar injustices in financial services, where freelancers are often overlooked due to outdated credit assessment models that do not align with their needs.”
By partnering with Ammana, a leading fintech provider focused on financial inclusion, inDrive integrates financial services directly into its app, making the funding process easier and more accessible. Leveraging over ten years of experience with its driver ecosystem, inDrive utilizes data such as trip frequency, monthly earnings, and other key information to assess drivers’ creditworthiness, allowing its partners to offer fairer financing terms.
The pilot phase of inDrive.Money began in late 2024, enabling inDrive and Ammana to refine the product according to local drivers’ needs. After a gradual rollout in major cities, the service is now available in Pematangsiantar, Purwakarta, Sukabumi, Makassar, Ternate, Garut, Bali, Palembang, Bukittinggi, Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta.
Widji Tri Kusuma Adhi, Director of Ammana, explained, “We are honored to support inDrive in their mission to challenge financial injustices by offering the easiest, fairest, and most affordable financial solutions to hundreds of thousands of drivers. inDrive and Ammana are now making this product available to drivers, which is especially crucial as the upcoming Ramadan celebration approaches. This initiative also serves as our contribution to supporting OJK’s national GERAK Syariah 2025 Campaign.”
As part of the pilot phase, inDrive has conducted over 15 offline training sessions to enhance drivers’ financial literacy and help them use financing more effectively. These sessions equip drivers with the knowledge to manage their finances wisely and maximize the benefits of this product. Many drivers have expressed that inDrive.Money has become a reliable support system for managing their finances, enabling them to continue driving without disruptions.
One recurring theme in driver testimonials is the fast and easy process, with comments such as, “The process is simple and very helpful.” As a result of this pilot phase, drivers who have accessed financing show higher engagement levels. Early results indicate high satisfaction, with over 63% of drivers willing to recommend the product. The three main reasons for their recommendations are fast approval, the ability to repay loans through trip earnings, and financial support during difficult times.
Beyond this initiative, Indonesia remains a key strategic market for inDrive. The company sees significant growth potential in the ride-hailing and urban services sector and plans to further expand its offerings in Indonesia.
