ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Tambak Lorok Block 3 Steam Gas Power Plant with a capacity of 779 MW is officially operational.
The plant, which was built with an investment of IDR 4.8 trillion, is managed by PT PLN Indonesia Power using high energy efficiency technology of up to 64 percent, which means it is able to produce more electricity with lower fuel consumption.
“The Tambak Lorok Block 3 Steam Gas Power Plant Project uses the latest gas turbine technology from General Electric (GE). This project is a collaboration involving national contractor Hutama Karya in collaboration with General Electric and Marubeni Corporation,” explained Jisman, Director General of Electricity. , Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources at the inauguration of the plant in Semarang, Central Java, Friday, August 30 2024.
According to Jisman, the operation of the Tambak Lorok Block 3 Steam Gas Power Plant is not just a symbol of success in providing energy infrastructure, but also a real step in supporting the national energy transition agenda.
“This generator will play a strategic role in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply in Indonesia, especially as a fast response generator,” he added.
This generator, which is located around Tanjung Mas Port, has the ability to operate as a peaker, namely a generator that can be quickly activated to meet spikes in electricity demand at peak load times, making it an important component in maintaining the stability of the national electricity system.
The President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said that the challenge in the energy transition is what the solution will be when there will be large-scale new renewable energy entering the PLN system.
For this reason, his party is establishing intensive communication with various parties so that fossil fuel base plants can become renewable energy bases.
“With fast response, of course the reliability of the system in Central Java will increase drastically and there will also be additional space for variable renewable energy which will also increase drastically,” he stressed.
For information, the Tambak Lorok Block 3 Steam Gas Power Plant has a BPP efficiency of around 11.45%. This plant is not only efficient in terms of energy production, but also very environmentally friendly.
The technology used in this plant is able to meet strict emission standards in accordance with Ministry of Environment and Forestry regulations. With low emissions, this plant is said to be one of the most environmentally friendly in its class. (AT Network)
