Jakarta is Designed to be a Global City Like New York and Sydney

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The city of Jakarta was designed like New York and Sydney after no longer being the capital of Indonesia.

It is known that the capital will move to the archipelago in the East Kalimantan region.

The Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tito Karnavian, stated that the development direction for Jakarta will be to become a major center in the fields of economy, services, banking and others.

He hopes that Jakarta can become a business city like New York in the United States or Sydney and Melbourne in Australia.

“We also want the city of Jakarta to become one of the main centers in the fields of economy, services and banking. The point is that it is roughly the same as New York or Sydney,” said Tito Karnavian in a meeting at the Indonesian DPR Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 13 2024.

To make this happen, said Tito, a joint commitment between the DPR, DPD and government is needed to develop Jakarta into a world-class city or global city.

“In the future, Jakarta will not only have competitiveness at the Southeast Asian regional level, but will also be on par with other developed cities in the world,” he said. (ATN)
