ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia has just recorded a new history in the oil and gas industry.
The Special Task Force for Implementing Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) and the consortium of cooperation contract contractors (KKKS), namely Harbor Energy Central Andaman Ltd. and Mubadala Energy (Central Andaman) Rsc Ltd officially signed the contract for the Central Andaman Oil and Gas Working Area (offshore northern part of Sumatra).
Harbor Energy is an oil and gas company from England. Meanwhile, Mubadala Energy is an oil and gas giant from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This contract is the first in managing oil and gas blocks in Indonesia with a new gross split scheme, in accordance with the provisions of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 13 of 2024 concerning Gross Split Production Sharing Contracts.
The signing of this contract was witnessed directly by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 3 2024.
Officer of the Director General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Dadan Kusdiana said that the Central Andaman Working Area Contract is a new history for investment in the oil and gas sector in Indonesia.
The Central Andaman Working Area will be operated by Harbor Energy Central Andaman Ltd. The consortium of cooperation contract contractors has paid a signature bonus of US$300,000 and submitted a performance guarantee of US$1.5 million.
Meanwhile, Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, revealed that the latest discovery of oil and gas potential in the Western Indonesia Phase 2 (IBB 2) area reached more than 4.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
This potential is found in four regions, namely the East Natuna Basin, Makassar Strait Basin, Southeast Java Basin and Barito Basin.
According to him, the discovery of this potential supports efforts to achieve Indonesia’s energy self-sufficiency as planned by President Prabowo Subianto, namely increasing oil and gas lifting.
Through this study, said Djoko, it shows a real contribution in efforts to find new oil and gas reserves, through exploration activities.
“The study is the result of collaboration between various parties with the aim of accelerating exploration activities, as well as creating a more conducive upstream oil and gas investment environment for investors, both domestic and international investors,” said Djoko. (AT Network)
