The signing of this MoU is a follow-up to the government-to-government (G2G) MoU signed between Indonesia and Bangladesh in 2017. This MoU also includes the construction of supporting facilities and is the basis for developing other collaborations based on mutually agreed terms and conditions. This strategic collaboration marks a step towards utilizing renewable energy solutions and infrastructure development in Bangladesh.

Pertamina NRE CFO Nelwin Aldriansyah said that his party welcomed this collaboration. CPGCBL is a leading electricity company in Bangladesh.

He said Pertamina NRE has the ability and experience in managing the clean energy portfolio.

“I believe this strategic partnership is the foundation for cooperation that will not only improve our operational capabilities, but also encourage growth, innovation, mutual success, and support Bangladesh’s national energy security,” said Nelwin in his official statement, Tuesday, July 16 2024.

CPGCBL through Managing Director Abul Kalam expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Pertamina NRE.

According to him, Pertamina NRE already has experience and a fairly capable clean energy business portfolio in Indonesia.

“Hopefully this collaboration can encourage the development of clean energy in Bangladesh and be mutually beneficial for both parties,” said Abul.

CPGCBL is a company owned by the Government of Bangladesh. CPGCBL was established as a public company with the primary business objective of generating electricity. The company has the mandate to undertake power plant development schemes under the Bangladesh Private Sector Power Generation Policy, Public Private Partnership Policy, or other government policy frameworks.

The signing of the MoU between CPGCBL and Pertamina NRE is an important milestone in the journey towards a sustainable energy future for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh expressed its pride in being able to partner with Pertamina NRE, part of PT Pertamina (Persero), a Fortune 500 company.

This partnership is expected to bring significant progress in the renewable energy sector, contributing to energy security and sustainability towards a cleaner future in the country.

PT Pertamina (Persero) Vice President Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso said that collaboration with CPGCBL is one of Pertamina NRE’s efforts to capture opportunities for business expansion abroad.

“We support Pertamina NRE’s expansion, in line with its competence in managing new and renewable energy. As a subholding, Pertamina NRE also shows its commitment to expanding its business independently,” said Fadjar.

Currently Pertamina NRE operates more than 2.7 gigawatts of electricity generation portfolio which includes gas to power, solar panels, geothermal and biogas. Pertamina NRE is committed to investing in innovative technology and infrastructure to support the energy transition.

Collaboration with various strategic partners confirms our dedication to building partnerships, both national and international, so that we can contribute to a just energy transition that refers to the SDGs, while continuing to support national energy security.

Pertamina is committed to supporting the 2060 Net Zero Emission target by continuing to encourage programs that have a direct impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All of these efforts are in line with the implementation of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) in all business lines and company operations. (AT Network)
