ASIATODAY.ID, TANGERANG – Petronas Carigali (PC) Ketapang II Ltd, which is the Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) group, has signed an extension of the production sharing contract (PSC) for the Ketapang Working Area (WK) for 20 years.
This signing was carried out by the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, Head of the Special Oil and Gas Task Force Dwi Soetjipto, President Director of Petronas Indonesia Yuzaini MD Yusof and his staff at the 2024 Indonesia Petroleum Association Conference and Exhibition (IPA Convex) at ICE BSD , Tuesday, May 14 2024.
Acting Director General of Oil and Gas Dadan Kusdiana said, apart from extending the contract for the Ketapang WK, his party also signed a PSC regarding the Bobara Working Area in West Papua.
Meanwhile, the Ketapang Oil and Gas Working Area is on land and off the coast of East Java with an area of 3,121.4 km2, with a minimum commitment for geological and geophysical (G&G) studies, as well as 3D seismic acquisition and processing of 300 km2.
Previously, PC Ketapang II Ltd had secured certainty of extending the production sharing contract for 20 years for the Ketapang work area, which is located in the Java Sea.
The production sharing contract until 2028 was awarded to Petronas on December 22 2023 by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Upstream Petronas Datuk Adif Zulkifli said that his party positively assessed the extension of the production sharing contract that had been awarded for the Ketapang Working Area.
“This will provide an opportunity for Petronas to increase our strong portfolio in Indonesia, through the strategic projects we have planned for the Ketapang Working Area,” said Zulkifli. (ATN)
