ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto will convey Indonesia’s readiness to participate in helping the Palestinian people at the High Level Conference (KTT) in Jordan which will discuss the Gaza issue.
Prabowo received an assignment from President Joko Widodo to represent Indonesia at the summit which will be held on June 11 2024 in Amman, Jordan.
“I will coordinate with the United Nations Secretariat General and the leaders of regional countries so that Indonesia can implement our offer of assistance,” said Prabowo at his residence, Jakarta, Friday, June 7 2024.
Facing an extraordinary humanitarian disaster and the extraordinary suffering of the people in Gaza, Palestine, Prabowo said President Jokowi had instructed him to convey that Indonesia was ready to send peace troops in significant numbers.
Indonesia, said Prabowo, is also ready to send a field hospital to operate in the Gaza area, in collaboration with Indonesian partners from the region, especially the United Arab Emirates.
He said Indonesia continues to be firm in its stance that resolving the conflict in Gaza, Palestine, must be carried out with a ceasefire and negotiations.
“Indonesia also firmly supports the independence of the Palestinian people, supports a two-state solution, and supports all efforts for an immediate ceasefire,” he emphasized.
Previously, President Jokowi instructed Prabowo Subianto to send health workers and provide hospitals to Gaza, Palestine.
Prabowo, who is also the President-elect of Indonesia, conveyed this after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday, June 6. (ANT)
