ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, affirmed that Indonesia’s security stability is now under control, despite a series of anarchic incidents in several regions.

Prabowo emphasized that the government will protect citizens who express their opinions peacefully, but will act firmly against those who deliberately create unrest.

The statement was delivered by President Prabowo after visiting civilians and police officers injured during riots, who are currently being treated at R. Said Sukanto National Police Hospital, East Jakarta, on Monday, September 1, 2025.

President Prabowo: Protect Peaceful Protest, Firm Against Anarchy

“If demonstrators are genuine and peaceful, they must be protected by security forces. The right to express opinions is guaranteed by the constitution, but demonstrations must be peaceful and within the law,” President Prabowo asserted.

However, he deplored the violent actions involving high-powered fireworks and the burning of government buildings.

He stressed that such actions were no longer a form of expression but rather an attempt to undermine democracy and disrupt national development.

Anarchic Acts Harm Ordinary People

The President reiterated that his government’s priority is protecting the poor and reducing poverty, and therefore acts of anarchy only harm the broader public.

“My duty is to take care of the weakest and the poorest. So if anyone causes chaos, it means they are hurting the people themselves,” Prabowo stated.

Indications of Organized Groups Behind Riots

President Prabowo further revealed indications of certain groups deliberately orchestrating unrest by entering regions that were not their own, carrying out arson and destruction to provoke anger.

He described such actions as a serious threat to national stability.

“This is my concern. But there is no problem—we will act firmly. I have the people’s mandate, I am sworn to uphold the constitution, and I will carry it out,” Prabowo declared.

Resolute Against Treason and the Mafia

The President also highlighted the burning of a regional parliament building in South Sulawesi, which claimed the lives of four civil servants uninvolved in politics. He said the incident was tantamount to treason.

“All state apparatus will investigate who is responsible. We already have indications, and we will not hesitate to act,” he emphasized.

In closing, President Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption, dismantling mafia networks, and defending the people without compromise.

“I will never hesitate to defend the people. I will confront mafia and corruption no matter how powerful they are. By God, I will not retreat even one step. I believe the people stand with me,” President Prabowo concluded. (AT Network)
