TAIS Shipyard Turkiye Starts Building the Indonesian Full Combat Mission Warship

ASIATODAY.ID, ALTINOVA – The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia together with TAIS Shipyards, a well-known shipyard in Turkiye, marked the start of construction of the Full Combat Mission Fast Missile Ship with the first steel cutting event on Wednesday, October 30 at the CNC Workshop Sefine Shipyard, Turkiye.

The First Steel Cutting Fast Missile Ship-Full Combat Mission event is an important moment in the tradition of building warships for the Indonesian Navy. This first steel cutting is one of the four main milestones in warship construction, which consists of first steel cutting, keel laying, launching, and ship naming.

After these stages, the ship will go through a delivery process and operational trials before the ship is delivered from the shipyard to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and then handed over to the Indonesian Navy to be ready for duty.

The event which took place at the TAIS shipyard was the first step in the physical construction of the Fast Missile Ship-Full Combat Mission warship which is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s maritime defense.

This project is part of the Indonesian government’s efforts to strengthen national defense, especially in the maritime sector, to support the Indonesian Navy in protecting Indonesia’s territorial sovereignty.

“I am confident in Tais Shipyard’s ability to build this Fast Missile Ship-Full Combat Mission with good quality and complete it within the specified time,” said the Head of the Defense Facilities Agency through the Chief of Staff Special Staff, Rear Admiral TNI Retiono Kunto, quoted from a press release from the Ministry of Defense, Thursday , October 31, 2024.

At the end of his speech, he expressed his appreciation to the Main Director of TAIS Shipyards, along with all delegations from the Turkiye Ministry of Defense, the Turkiye Maritime Ministry and the ranks of the Turkiye Navy, as well as all related parties who have supported the implementation of this collaboration as part of a joint commitment to maintaining regional stability and security.

Also attending the Steel Cutting KCR-Full Combat Mission event were Indonesian Ambassador to Turkiye Ahmad Rizal Purnama, CEO Sefine: Demir Kologlu, GM Sefine: Suleyman A. Tuzcuoglu, Head of Department of Naval Platforms, SSB (Turkish Gov): Bilkutay Yilmaz , Managing Director of TAIS Shipyard: Dogan Bescan, GM of Havelsan: Mehmet Akif Nacar, Indonesian Defense Attaché for Turkiye Colonel Mohammad Amir Ali Akbar, representatives from the Turkiye Navy and Turkiye Defense Industries, as well as a delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Navy.
