ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PLN Batam together with PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV) officially operates a 100 megawatt peak (MWp) Ground-Mounted Solar Power Plant in the Kota Bukit Indah (KBI) Industrial Area, Purwakarta, West Java.

This power plant is the largest ground-mounted power plant in Indonesia which is operated by PT Aruna Hijau Power (AHP), a joint venture between PLN Batam and Aruna PV. This plant is estimated to be able to produce 150 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year or the equivalent of reducing emissions of 118,725 tons of CO2.

The Director General of Electricity at the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman P. Hutajulu, welcomed the quick steps taken by PLN and AHP in building a ground-mounted solar power plant in Purwakarta.

According to him, the inauguration of this plant is a new milestone in Indonesia’s energy transition efforts towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.

“We hope that the successful construction of this power plant can become a role model for the industrial sector in Indonesia,” said Jisman in his statement, Friday, August 30 2024.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that this power plant project is also supported by PT Tatajabar Sejahtera (TJS) as the offtaker and PT Besland Pertiwi as the project land owner.

According to Darmawan, this is a form of collaboration between governments, State-Owned Enterprises and Private Companies in realizing energy security through increasing the use of new, renewable energy.

He is optimistic that the operation of this plant will create a substantial economic impact that can create many jobs, open up business opportunities and support economic growth, especially in the Bukit Indah City Industrial Area and its surroundings.

“This power plant development project is a form of PLN’s support in encouraging industrial competitiveness in the country. “In the midst of global demands to switch to clean energy, many domestic industries also need green electricity supplies so that the products produced have added value,” he said.

Meanwhile, AHP President Director Adi Dharmanto expressed his gratitude for being able to complete the largest ground-mounted solar power plant project in Indonesia faster than the target, which was around seven months.

“We are committed that we will be one of PLN’s partners who play a role in the transition to new and renewable energy,” stressed Adi. (AT Network)
