Commander of the Jayakarta Regional Military Command, Major General TNI Mohamad Hasan, said a fire accompanied by an explosion occurred in an ammunition warehouse that had expired. There are around 160 thousand types of ammunition and explosives in the warehouse.
The explosion in the ammunition warehouse is thought to have occurred due to a chemical process that occurred in the expired ammunition.
“The explosion occurred in a warehouse where expired ammunition was stored,” said Hasan.
Hasan revealed that before the explosion occurred, smoke initially appeared from warehouse number 6.
“Until now, we have checked all our perimeter locations, there are no casualties. “Until now we have not been able to enter the location because the situation is still fragile because there are still small explosions,” he explained. (ATN)
