ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The United States (US) offers the latest technology to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia. Alternative energy is believed to present inclusive economic opportunities in Indonesia.
This offer was conveyed by the United States government through the Embassy to Indonesia in an innovative workshop to increase the use of environmentally friendly energy technology and strengthen the electric vehicle battery supply chain.
In the meeting involving 150 participants from the public, private and civil society sectors, it is hoped that concrete solutions will be presented in utilizing affordable technology to reduce emissions.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the US Department of Energy Julie Cerquiera stated that her party is committed to working with Indonesia to achieve clean climate goals through real projects that meet Indonesia’s energy needs.
Acting Deputy US Ambassador, Jason P. Rebholz, said that his country is a committed partner in supporting the sustainable development of batteries and electric vehicles in Indonesia.
“US technology can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia while encouraging the development of attractive opportunities in the inclusive economy in Indonesia,” said Rebholz in an official statement, Wednesday, May 22 2024.
This workshop consists of five themes such as developing the battery-to-electric vehicle supply chain, integrating environmentally friendly alternative energy, developing environmental standards, and sustainable governance. Apart from that, there were panel and networking sessions discussing industrial opportunities in Indonesia as well as cooperation with the US business world in terms of financial and business support.
Heather Evans, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing at the US International Trade Administration, stated that her party is committed to encouraging inclusive economic growth and accelerating the application of clean technology as well as facilitating investment in sustainable infrastructure projects with trading partners such as Indonesia and other countries in the region.
It is hoped that this workshop can strengthen bilateral relations between the US and Indonesia, as well as encourage progress in clean energy technology that is beneficial for both countries. (ATN)
