ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Saudi Arabian government has implemented a new policy regarding the 2024 Umrah visa. The new rule regulates the prohibition of using the visa for other activities until the visa is valid.
Information on the new policy of the Saudi Arabian Government was conveyed by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Friday, April 19 2024.
There are 4 important points in the new policy of the Saudi Arabian Government.
First, the Umrah visa applies specifically for religious purposes in the Holy Land and is prohibited from being used for work or other non-pilgrimage activities.
Second, the Umrah visa is valid for three months from the date of issuance, not starting after the visa holder enters Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, in the previous provisions, the visa was valid from the time you entered Saudi Arabia and this rule has been changed.
Third, the three-month Umrah visa validity period from the date of issuance can only be used until 15 Zulkaidah or 23 May 2024.
Fourth, Umrah pilgrims are asked to leave Saudi Arabia before their visa expires.
Meanwhile, in an effort to prevent pilgrims from being exposed to fraud related to the Umrah pilgrimage, the Indonesian Ministry of Religion urges the public to understand and pay attention to the 5 Sure Umrah.
Head of the Sub-directorate for Monitoring and Supervision of Umrah and Special Hajj at the Directorate of Special Umrah and Hajj at the Ministry of Religion, Suviyanto, said that the first thing to pay attention to is to make sure the travel has permission from the Ministry of Religion.
“We urge people to carry out the Umrah pilgrimage while still paying attention to the 5 sure Umrah program. “Before registering, people must ensure that the travel is licensed by the Umrah Travel Organizer (PPIU),” said Suviyanto in Jakarta, Saturday, April 8 2024.
After confirming that the travel has PPIU permission, make sure the costs and service packages comply with government regulations.
“The cost of Umrah is reasonable, not the cheap package below the Umrah reference fee set by the government of IDR 23,000,000,” he said.
Apart from that, said Suviyanto, the congregation must also confirm their tickets and flight schedule. Regulation of the Minister of Religion (PMA) Number 5 of 2021 regulates that Umrah flights use direct aircraft, transit once with the same airline, or change airlines with a maximum of two airlines.
“Next, the congregation must also confirm their visas. “Don’t let the congregation not have an Umrah visa before departure,” stressed Suviyanto.
Finally, also make sure of the hotel, so that the congregation really knows that they are being provided with hotel services in Saudi Arabia that have been ordered and paid for by PPIU before leaving.
“These five things must be ensured before leaving so that worship can run safely and comfortably,” he said. (ATN)
