ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government, through the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, is ready to provide golden visa facilities for global investors who will invest in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
“Requirements for global companies wishing to invest in IKN have been lowered, from a minimum investment of $25 million to a minimum of $5 million for a stay of 5 years. Meanwhile, for a stay of 10 years, it has been lowered from $50 million to $10 million,” explained the Director General. Immigration Silmy Karim via press release, Thursday, February 1 2024.
Silmy stated that foreign companies that will open branches or subsidiaries in IKN are exempt from turnover requirements for their parent companies as required for foreign companies that will open branches or subsidiaries outside IKN.
Application for a visa with the E28F index is done online.
The required documents attached include a passport with a minimum validity period of 6 months, a photo and a statement of commitment to build a company in IKN with an investment value of at least $5 million (for a stay of 5 years), or at least $10 million (for a stay of 10 years).
According to Silmy, in January 2024 as many as 62 golden visas will have been issued. The ease of golden visas for investors is a form of Immigration’s commitment to carrying out one of its functions as a facilitator of community development.
“We hope that the influx of foreign investors will provide an economic stimulus for IKN and the surrounding area,” said Silmy.
The golden visa is a type of visa that is given as the basis for granting a residence permit for a period of 5 to 10 years with the aim of supporting the national economy.
The basis for implementing this policy is when the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation Number 22 of 2023 and the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 82 of 2023 are promulgated.
Meanwhile, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Samuel Altman became the first foreigner to receive a golden visa after it was enacted at the end of August last year.
Altman received a golden visa with the world figure sub-category with a 10 year stay period which was signed directly by the Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim. (AT Network)
