ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is collaborating with South Korea in developing two blue economy hubs.

This was stated by the Deputy for Economic Affairs at the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti at the Navigating the Path to ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’ event organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday, March 8 2024.

“Indonesia will develop two blue economy hubs. The western part is on Riau Island. We have collaborated with Korea to develop a blue economy innovation center on Bintan Island. “Furthermore, the eastern blue economy hub area will be developed in Maluku,” explained Amalia in her presentation.

Amalia explained that the blue economy will be one of Indonesia’s new sources of economic growth and support Indonesia’s economic transformation agenda.

According to him, abundant marine resources must touch value creation in a more inclusive and sustainable way and not sell the raw materials.

The two blue economic hub projects were also formed considering the new paradigm of Indonesian economic development, namely regarding the Indonesian economic corridor, by looking at the potential and characteristics of each region.

“We will make Indonesia an economic power, where the country will be more economically integrated. “This means that each region will not compete with each other, but each region must complement each other to become one economic power,” he said.

Amalia then gave the example of the Bali and Nusa Tenggara Economic Corridor which will become a super hub for tourism and the international creative economy, considering the potential in the area.

The next example, Sulawesi will support the economy of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), and resource-based industries that will be developed in the area. (ATN)
