KAI and JRTM Japan Sign Contract to Purchase KRL Spare Parts Worth IDR 734 Billion

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI) has again signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Japanese company, JRTM in the context of procuring spare parts to fulfill the electric rail train (KRL) fleet.

This second period of the cooperation contract is with a Long Term Purchase Agreement (LTPA) for the period 2024-2027.

President Director of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia, Asdo Artriviyanto, said that the LTPA cooperation contract has an investment value of IDR 734 billion. The investment value is to ensure spare parts and maintenance for KRL facilities to meet PT KAI’s operational service needs.

“This LTPA collaboration is to ensure the availability of spare parts and maintenance of KRL facilities running well for the operational needs of KAI Commuter services for the next three years,” said Asdo in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday, March 14 2024.

Asdo explained that this collaboration will continue to support the smooth running of railway operations in the future, especially railway operations in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas.

Meanwhile, KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary Anne Purba said that PT KAI will continue to collaborate with various related parties as an effort to improve services to KRL users.

“Public transportation such as KRL must continue to develop so that the target of more than two million users per day is achieved. “KAI Commuter must also be ready to develop services outside Jabodetabek and encourage the government to carry out electrification in various regions of Indonesia,” said Anne.

Apart from signing the LTPA cooperation contract regarding the procurement of KRL spare parts, KAI Commuter also signed an MoU with JRTM Japan which includes extending the technical life for the JR 205 series with a rejuvenation program and promoting and collaborating in maintenance and management of the provision of spare parts services.

Then, this collaboration is also related to training and knowledge transfer to support and prepare for the implementation of facility rejuvenation. Then, exchange experts, provide spare parts and inventory management, as well as other related fields. (ATN)
