ASIATODAY.ID, JAKATA – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that Emaar Properties, owner of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon invest in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN), in July 2024.
It is known that last week Emaar Properties founder Mohamed Ali Rashed Alabbar visited several points in Indonesia accompanied by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, starting from Nusa Dua, Bali, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, to IKN Nusantara and closed his visit by meeting the President Jokowi.
“The owner of Emaar Properties, from Dubai, we took him to Nusa Dua, to Mandalika, then to Labuan Bajo, brought him back here to IKN Nusantara, then to Jakarta to meet me,” said Jokowi on the sidelines of the Groundbreaking of the Astra Biz Center and Nusantara Botanical Garden, monitored from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast, Tuesday, June 4 2024.
Jokowi said that Mohamed Ali Rashed Alabbar was very flattered by the location of IKN. In fact, it is also compared with locations in other countries. However, IKN is considered to be the best place for future investment purposes.
“What did he say to me? ‘President Jokowi does not have the best, most beautiful place, downstream of the hills as beautiful as IKN. I have invested in many countries, this is the best place’,” said Jokowi, repeating his conversation with Mohamed Ali Rashed Alabbar at that time.
From the discussion, Jokowi said, Mohammed Ali Rashed Alabbar had agreed and planned to invest heavily in IKN and the plan was to sign it in July 2024.
“Mohammed Ali Rashed Alabbar has made an immediate investment commitment and I cannot mention the value yet. We will sign it, God willing, in July in Abu Dhabi or Dubai,” explained President Jokowi. (ATN)
