PTDI and Embraer Collaborate in the Commercial Aviation Industry

ASIATODAY.ID, RIO DE JENEIRO – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and Brazilian aerospace company, Embraer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand collaboration in the commercial aviation industry.

“As Indonesia’s main aerospace manufacturer, PTDI has big ambitions for industrial development in the country,” said the President Director of PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Gita Amperiawan in his statement, Monday, November 18 2024.

Gita explained, through this MoU, Embraer and PTDI will conduct a joint study to evaluate opportunities for cooperation in the commercial aviation sector, especially in the field of engineering and the provision of aeronautical structures.

This collaboration framework, will adhere to strict commercial and technical standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and business objectives.

Both companies are committed to exploring opportunities that provide added value for both parties, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance in aerospace manufacturing.

According to Gita, this agreement is an important step in strengthening aerospace collaboration between Brazil and Indonesia, encouraging technological innovation and industrial partnerships between developing countries.

“We welcome this collaboration and hope to utilize Embraer’s 55 years of experience and expertise to enhance our capabilities, especially in the commercial aviation sector,” said Gita.

Embraer Commercial Aviation Marketing Vice President Rodrigo Silva e Souza said he was enthusiastic about the increasingly close relationship between Embraer and PTDI, considering that Indonesia is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world.

“We see an opportunity to combine the expertise of both parties, increase Indonesia’s aerospace capabilities, and expand air connectivity in this country,” said Rodrigo.

The signing of this MoU took place at the Indonesia-Brazil CEO Forum chaired by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil, witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, the Special Envoy of the President of Indonesia, Hashim Djojohadikusumo and the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Currently, the Indonesian Air Force operates a fleet of A-29 Super Tucano which is produced by Embraer, and there is also a fairly large fleet of Embraer business jets in Indonesia.
