The meeting marked an important step in strengthening religious relations and strengthening educational cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt.
Arriving at Mashiaket Al-Azhar, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Grand Sheikh Al-Tayeb, who also introduced a number of prominent Egyptian scholars who were present to welcome him. President Prabowo’s presence at this religious institution is a symbol of the long-standing close relationship between Indonesia and Al-Azhar.

After the welcoming session, President Prabowo and Grand Sheikh Al-Tayeb continued their meeting and discussion in the Grand Sheikh’s Office. It is believed that this meeting will further emphasize the historical relationship between Indonesia and Al-Azhar, which has been a home of education for thousands of Indonesian students for decades.
This meeting was also not the first for the two figures. Previously, Grand Sheikh Al-Tayeb had met with President Prabowo during his visit to Indonesia last July.
