South Sumatra First Exports 59 Tons of Coffee to Malaysia and Australia

ASIATODAY.ID, PALEMBANG – A total of 59 tonnes of coffee from South Sumatra will be exported to Malaysia and Australia on January 20 2025.

The coffee exported consists of two types. A total of 19.5 tons of grade 1 Arabica from Semendo Muara Enim and grade 1 Robusta from Pagaralam will be exported to Australia. Meanwhile, 39.6 tonnes of grade 4 robusta coffee green beans from Pagaralam will be exported to Malaysia.

“South Sumatra is the largest coffee producer nationally. “Through this coffee export, we will form an integrated ecosystem,” explained the Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Elen Setiadi, in Palembang, quoted on Saturday, January 18 2025.

According to him, coffee commodities play a very important role in economic development. Therefore, he targets this export to be sustainable.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of PT. Indonesian Agri Export Novia Anggita said that currently the demand for South Sumatran coffee from foreign countries is quite large, because the taste is very popular.

“Apart from Malaysia and Australia, we are also exploring other export destination countries, one of which is Dubai,” he stressed. (AT Network)
