ASIATODAY.ID, ANKARA – Indonesia and Turkiye have strengthened their bilateral ties with the signing of three strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), covering cultural cooperation, public communication, and disaster management. The agreements mark a significant step forward in deepening collaboration between the two nations.
The MoUs were signed at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, April 10, 2025, witnessed by President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following a warm and constructive bilateral meeting.
“We are committed to enhancing this cooperation. The meeting was productive, filled with a spirit of brotherhood, friendship, and a shared desire to strengthen our partnership,” said President Prabowo during a joint press conference.
Three Strategic Areas of Cooperation
The following are the three key MoUs signed between the Governments of Indonesia and Turkey:
- Disaster and Emergency Management
An MoU between Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority under the Ministry of Interior, aimed at improving coordination and preparedness in dealing with natural disasters and emergencies. The agreement was signed by BNPB Head Suharyanto.
- Public Communication and Media Cooperation
An MoU between the Presidential Communication Office of Indonesia and the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of Turkiye, focusing on collaboration in public relations, media, and strategic communication. Signed by Presidential Communication Office Head Hasan Hasbi.
- Cultural Exchange and Collaboration
A bilateral agreement to enhance cultural ties, promote heritage preservation, and encourage artistic exchange between the two countries. This MoU was signed by Indonesia’s Minister of Culture Fadli Zon.
Long-Term Commitment Between Indonesia and Turkey
These agreements not only reaffirm the robust diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and Turkey but also lay the foundation for mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation across critical sectors.
The signing of these MoUs underscores both nations’ commitment to fostering cross-sectoral collaboration that supports regional stability, sustainable development, and strong international relations.
