ASIATODAY.ID, BEIJING – The Chinese government has officially issued a travel advisory for its citizens planning to visit the United States, citing escalating geopolitical tensions and growing concerns over domestic security in the U.S.

The warning, announced by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, comes amid a sharp deterioration in China-U.S. economic relations and a spike in reported security incidents across various parts of the United States.

“Recently, due to the worsening economic and trade relations between China and the United States, as well as increasing safety concerns within the U.S., the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds Chinese travelers to carefully assess the risks of visiting the country and to exercise heightened caution,” the Ministry stated in its official release on Wednesday, April 9.

The advisory not only applies to tourists, but also extends to Chinese students planning to study in the U.S. The government expressed concerns over potential threats to personal safety, including racial discrimination and political instability, which may negatively impact the study experience abroad.

This travel alert coincides with rising trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies. In a retaliatory move, China recently imposed a 50% tariff on a range of U.S. imports, following earlier tariffs of 34%. These measures are seen as a direct response to the protectionist trade policies enforced by the administration of President Donald Trump.

Given the unfolding situation, the Chinese government is urging all citizens — whether traveling for leisure, business, or education — to reconsider their travel plans to the United States and to prioritize their personal safety above all. (AT Network)
