Following the signing ceremony, U.S. President Donald J. Trump addressed international media with his signature style, expressing appreciation to world leaders who contributed to the peace deal.

“Joining us today is President Prabowo, an extraordinary figure from Indonesia,” said President Trump, turning toward President Prabowo who stood among other heads of state.

The two leaders then stepped forward and shook hands — a symbolic moment that quickly captured the attention of global audiences. The handshake reflected U.S. recognition of Indonesia’s vital role in advancing peace and global justice.

In another part of his speech, Trump once again praised Indonesia.

“We’ve talked about Indonesia. I just want to say, it’s a great country, a strong country, and its performance has been truly remarkable,” he said.

During the official photo session, President Prabowo stood in the front row, flanked by French President Emmanuel Macron and UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The moment was not only an honor but also a testament to Indonesia’s strategic standing in international diplomacy.

Earlier, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the summit host. The two leaders exchanged greetings and reaffirmed the close bilateral relations between Indonesia and Egypt before proceeding to the main hall.

Indonesia Reaffirms Its Commitment to Peace and Gaza Reconstruction

The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit marked a historic milestone as leaders from the United States, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt officially signed the Gaza Peace Agreement.

President Trump described the accord as “the end of years of suffering and bloodshed,” emphasizing that humanitarian aid is now flowing into Gaza, while civilians are returning home and families are being reunited.

He added that the next phase would focus on reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gaza, with international support aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, restoring public services, and ensuring long-term stability in the region.

For Indonesia — home to the world’s largest Muslim population — this participation reflects a consistent commitment to peace, justice, and global humanity, aligning with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to help create a world order based on freedom, lasting peace, and social justice.

The handshake between President Prabowo and President Trump went beyond symbolism; it represented Indonesia’s proactive diplomacy and moral leadership in global peace efforts.

Indonesia’s presence at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit reaffirms its determination to act as a bridge for dialogue among nations and a moral voice from the Muslim world in the pursuit of lasting global peace. (AT Network)
