ASIATODAY.ID, RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, on November 5, 2025 held a high-level meeting in Riyadh with U.S. Secretary of the Interior and National Energy Dominance Council Chairman Doug Burgum to explore new avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the critical minerals and mining sectors.

The discussions focused on implementing the memorandum of cooperation signed in May 2025 between Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the U.S. Department of Energy, during the Saudi–U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh.

Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering strategic partnerships to ensure the stability of global mineral supply chains, which are essential for supporting the energy transition and achieving sustainability goals.

Minister Alkhorayef and Secretary Burgum underscored the mutual benefits of collaboration in rare-earth elements and other critical minerals vital to clean energy technologies.

The meeting also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to promoting innovation, sustainability, and responsible mining practices.

Highlighting Saudi Arabia’s leadership role in shaping the future of the global minerals industry, the discussions referenced the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) — a premier global platform hosted annually in Riyadh.

The fifth edition of the forum will take place from January 13–15, 2026, bringing together government leaders, investors, mining companies, technology innovators, and research institutions to develop sustainable solutions for the sector.

Through this expanding partnership, Saudi Arabia and the United States aim to accelerate the development of a secure, sustainable, and diversified global mineral ecosystem, supporting the transition toward cleaner and more resilient energy systems. (SPA)
