ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is opening wider investment opportunities in the wellness tourism sector as part of its broader strategy to transform the capital city into a healthier, more balanced, and globally competitive metropolis. This commitment was highlighted by Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno during a wellness tourism development forum held at PENN Restaurant, Kebayoran Baru, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
The event, organized in collaboration with Etnaprana, marks a strengthened partnership to build a culturally rooted wellness ecosystem — while inviting both local and international investors to explore the growing potential of Jakarta’s wellness tourism industry.
Jakarta Prepares a Strong Ecosystem for Wellness Tourism Investors
Rano emphasized that Jakarta’s development is no longer limited to physical infrastructure but also prioritizes improving residents’ well-being and happiness.
Wellness tourism, he noted, offers significant economic value and represents a promising sector for future investment.
“I appreciate Etnaprana as a strategic partner in developing a culturally rooted wellness tourism ecosystem. The Jakarta Provincial Government is fully committed to supporting the city’s growth as a leading wellness tourism destination,” he said.
He added that he and Governor Pramono Anung share a vision of positioning Jakarta as a home for health, tranquility, and restorative cultural experiences — creating a compelling proposition for tourists and investors alike.
Rich Etno-Wellness Assets Strengthen Jakarta’s Global Appeal
Rano highlighted Jakarta’s unique etno-wellness assets, including traditional Betawi massage, herbal remedies, Bir Pletok, and various practices of meditation and physical wellness. These cultural treasures provide Jakarta with a competitive edge in the regional and global wellness tourism market.
“These authentic elements give Jakarta strong positioning and unique value in the international wellness landscape,” he noted.
Accelerating the Road to the Happy City Index 2027
Jakarta is currently accelerating a range of strategic initiatives to help the city achieve a higher ranking in the Happy City Index 2027. Developing the wellness tourism sector is one of its core pillars, aligned with improvements in cultural vitality, environmental quality, and creative industry growth — all aimed at enhancing residents’ well-being.
Call for Investors and Communities to Collaborate
Rano stressed that collaboration is key to maximizing wellness tourism’s impact. He encouraged associations, communities, industry players, and investors to work together in strengthening local SMEs and contributing to Jakarta’s economic resilience.
“I hope this forum produces fresh ideas, strong synergy, and a shared commitment to making Jakarta a healthier, happier, and more livable city for all,” he concluded. (AT Network)
