ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The global footprint of Alumni Corps of the Indonesian Islamic Students Association (KAHMI) has officially expanded.

After decades of shaping Indonesia’s intellectual and leadership landscape, the alumni organization of Islamic Student Association (HMI) has now stepped confidently onto the international stage.

The establishment of KAHMI Australia–New Zealand not only broadens organizational reach but also symbolizes a new era in which KAHMI’s ideas, networks, and values engage directly with the global community.

At a time when international collaboration and moral leadership are increasingly essential, the presence of KAHMI in the Pacific region signifies that KAHMI Goes International is no longer a slogan—it is a tangible movement contributing to global civilization and humanity.

The inauguration of the KAHMI Australia–New Zealand Chapter for 2025–2030 received an enthusiastic welcome from Indonesia’s Vice Minister for Transmigration, Viva Yoga Mauladi, who delivered his remarks during a virtual ceremony held via Zoom on 27 November 2025.

“My congratulations to Abbadi Thalib as the newly appointed Chair and to Wafi as Secretary-General,” he said on Friday, November 28, 2025.

The ceremony, held at 1:00 PM Jakarta time or 5:00 PM Australia time, brought together prominent figures including Indonesia’s Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu, Dr. Siswo Pramono, National Coordinator of MN KAHMI, Dr. Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, MN KAHMI Secretary-General Syamsul Qomar, distinguished alumni such as Prof. Dr. R. Siti Zuhro, and around 50 participants from both countries.

KAHMI Australia–New Zealand: A Strategic Leap into Global Networking

Viva Yoga expressed strong support for the new chapter, emphasizing its importance in strengthening KAHMI’s global network.

“KAHMI is no longer confined to Indonesia. As an organization of the ummah and the nation, it must become a global entity,” stated the former three-term Presidium Member of KAHMI.

He highlighted that KAHMI’s presence abroad opens new opportunities for business, economic, diplomatic, and religious cooperation, all of which align with the organization’s long-term vision and mission.

“KAHMI carries the responsibility of continuing HMI’s mission—to advance a just and prosperous society under the blessing of Allah SWT,” added the former Chairperson of HMI Denpasar.

Spreading KAHMI’s Mission Across All Fields of Service

Viva Yoga stressed that KAHMI’s mission must be present across all spheres of public service—legislative, executive, judicial, academic, social, and international arenas.

“In every sector of society, you will find HMI alumni contributing meaningfully,” he noted.

He further emphasized that as KAHMI’s global presence expands, its role should be recognized as a strategic force in shaping human civilization.

He pointed to the role of the Insan Cita University of Indonesia (UICI) in strengthening the intellectual capacity of KAHMI members.

“This movement enhances intellectual and professional capabilities, enabling KAHMI to contribute more significantly to the ummah, the nation, and humanity,” he said.

Projecting an Inclusive and Compassionate Islam to the World

As a global Islamic organization, KAHMI and HMI have long championed an inclusive, tolerant, and pluralist interpretation of Islam.

Viva Yoga concluded by urging members to maintain this noble tradition wherever they serve.

“Wherever KAHMI exists, it must embody Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin—a faith that brings compassion and mercy to the entire universe,” he affirmed. (AT Network)
