ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Bobur Alimov as its new Country Director for Indonesia. He assumes office in November.
Alimov will lead ADB’s operations in Indonesia, strengthening collaboration with the government, development partners, and the private sector.
He will oversee the implementation of the newly approved ADB Country Partnership Strategy 2025–2029, which supports Indonesia’s efforts to achieve accelerated, more inclusive, and sustainable growth.
Under his leadership, the ADB Indonesia Resident Mission will deliver integrated solutions to help advance the country’s development priorities and maximize ADB’s impact nationwide.

“Indonesia is a key driver of growth and innovation in the region, and I look forward to deepening our strong partnership to support the country’s development goals and foster sustainable, inclusive economic progress for all its people.”
Alimov joined ADB in 2002 as a young economist in the former Agriculture and Environment Division of the Southeast Asia Department.
He has served in two resident missions—as an environment economist in Indonesia, and as a project administration unit head in the Kyrgyz Republic.
He also held key roles in the front offices of ADB’s Central and West Asia and Southeast Asia departments.
In 2018, Alimov was appointed advisor and head of the Special Initiatives Unit in the Strategy, Policy, and Partnerships Department, where he led the core team for ADB’s organizational review.
In 2023, he was appointed head of the Transformation Office, managing the design and rollout of ADB’s transformation agenda. More recently, he served as an advisor in the East Asia Department, contributing to the department’s strategic planning and implementation.
A national of Uzbekistan, Alimov brings over 28 years of professional experience, including 23 years with ADB.
He holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Connecticut. Before joining ADB, he taught international trade and mathematical economics at the University of Connecticut. (AT Network)
