ASIATODAY.ID, JAMBI — The Jambi City Government is preparing a strategic partnership with Kana Cooperative to strengthen the region’s food distribution system. The plan was discussed during an audience between Kana Cooperative and Jambi Mayor Maulana at Jambi City Hall on Monday, December 15, 2025.
The meeting was attended by Tresya Wijaya, Daily Chair of Kana Cooperative, representing Cooperative Chair Jonathan Danang Wardhana, who was unable to attend due to an overseas assignment in Bangkok to oversee a sugar shipment inspection bound for China.
During the session, Tresya presented the Koperasi Manis (Sweet Cooperative) Program, an initiative aimed at strengthening the supply chain of essential goods through a cooperative-based network to expand the distribution of food and consumer products.
Tresya emphasized that enhancing the role of cooperatives in food distribution is a strategic step to maintain supply stability and price control at the regional level.
“Cooperatives must be positioned as key actors in food distribution. Our Koperasi Manis Program is designed as a concrete solution to strengthen distribution from upstream production to end consumers,” Tresya said.
The audience resulted in several preliminary agreements. The Jambi City Government will designate cooperatives in the Jambi area as distributors for Koperasi Manis products, including granulated sugar, canned fish, and other essential commodities.
In addition, the city government opened opportunities for Kana Cooperative to supply up to 100,000 cartons of Shaucha beverages for civil servants (ASN) in Jambi Province, subject to a mutually agreed pricing arrangement.
For 2026, Kana Cooperative has also been invited to participate in the Sembako Bahagia Program, with plans to supply granulated sugar for approximately 16,000 civil servants in Jambi.
Jambi Mayor Maulana stated that collaboration between local governments and cooperatives is part of a broader strategy to strengthen regional food security.
He noted that the city government remains open to cooperatives that demonstrate strong capacity and sound governance.
“Food distribution must be managed in an inclusive and sustainable manner. Cooperatives play a vital role in ensuring stable supply while ensuring that economic benefits are shared more equitably,” Maulana said.
Beyond distribution cooperation, Kana Cooperative has also been given the opportunity to take part in the socialization of the KDKMP program in Jambi Province.
