ASIATODAY.ID, RIYADH – In a bold push to cement Saudi Arabia’s position as a global mining powerhouse, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with ministers from Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo ahead of the 5th Future Minerals Forum, which kicks off today in Riyadh.
Accompanied by Vice Minister for Mining Affairs Eng. Khalid Almudaifer, Alkorayef discussed expanding strategic partnerships in mining, minerals, and downstream industries, aiming to strengthen supply chains for critical minerals and foster joint investment opportunities.
During talks with Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira, the focus was on joint mining investments and long-term cooperation between the two nations.
Meanwhile, discussions with Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik centered on mineral-based industries to enhance food security, highlighting how mining can play a strategic role beyond raw materials.
Alkorayef also met with Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, exploring technical expertise exchange and collaboration in downstream mining industries.
In his meeting with DR Congo’s Minister of Mines Louis Watum Kabamba, the discussions focused on enabling the private sector to capitalize on strategic mineral investments, reinforcing global supply chains.
In a cross-sector discussion, Alkorayef engaged with Dr. Hanan Balkhy, Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean at WHO, to explore collaboration in pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing, positioning Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for global health security.
The Future Minerals Forum (January 13–15, 2026) serves as a global platform for dialogue on mining innovation, partnerships, and sustainability, highlighting the Kingdom’s ambitions to become a central player in the international mining and minerals sector. (SPA)
