AGM 2025: Kana Strengthens Its Path Toward Becoming a People-Centered Corporation

ASIATODAY.ID, SURABAYA — Kana Consumer Cooperative held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at XXI Lounge, Ciputra World Surabaya, under the theme “From Cooperative to a Corporation for the People.”

For Kana, this year’s AGM was more than a routine annual agenda—it marked a strategic turning point toward becoming a stronger, more modern organization that remains closely aligned with the needs of its members and the wider community.

Over the past few years, Kana has demonstrated significant growth. Membership increased from 44 members in 2023 to 100 in 2024, and further expanded to 207 members in 2025.

On the business side, production capacity for palm sugar rose sharply from 15 tons per day in 2023 to 50 tons in 2024, reaching 70 tons per day in 2025.

Through its Sweet Cooperative Program, Kana also established partnerships with around 300 KDKMP units by 2025. This progress reflects not only organizational expansion but also Kana’s strengthening position as a business entity.

Chairman of Kana Consumer Cooperative, Jonathan Danang Wardhana, stated that this growth serves as a crucial foundation for future expansion.

“Kana’s growth over the past two years shows that we are not only building an organization, but also strengthening business capacity, operational readiness, and competitiveness. Moving forward, we aim to take Kana further—from a growing cooperative into a solid, modern, and impactful people-centered corporation,” he said.

According to Jonathan, transitioning toward a people-centered corporation does not mean abandoning cooperative values. On the contrary, Kana seeks to develop a more professional and integrated business model while remaining firmly rooted in the interests of its members.

Institutional strengthening and business development will therefore go hand in hand, including the expansion of multiple business lines that support one another within a unified ecosystem.

In line with this vision, Deputy for Institutional Affairs and Cooperative Digitalization, Henra Saragih, emphasized that such transformation is essential in today’s evolving landscape.

“The theme ‘from cooperative to a corporation for the people’ reflects the demands of our time. Cooperatives must not only grow as organizations but also become strong business entities, modern in governance, and capable of delivering tangible benefits to members and society,” he noted.

Looking ahead, Kana aims to strengthen its business units and expand partnership networks as part of its 2026 roadmap. The focus extends beyond business growth to generating broader economic impact.

With a steadily growing membership base, increasing production capacity, and a strong spirit of collaboration, Kana seeks to demonstrate that cooperatives can scale up without losing their grassroots identity.

Through the 2025 AGM, Kana reaffirmed its commitment to continuous progress—building a cooperative that is healthy, professional, and relevant, while shaping a people-centered corporation that grows from its members, is managed with modern principles, and delivers meaningful benefits to society at large.
