ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have agreed to renew cooperation in the development of football.
For this reason, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, is pushing for an increase in the standard of football in the Southeast Asia region.
This was conveyed by Minister Dito at the Consultative Workshop of the Renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding Between ASEAN-FIFA in St. Regis Hotel Rasuna Said, Jakarta, Wednesday (15/11/2023).
“I encourage all participants to contribute actively, share insights and collaborate,” said Menpora Dito.
Menpora Dito hopes that the renewal of the MoU between ASEAN and FIFA will be a collaborative effort to form unity and inclusiveness in the future of football cooperation in ASEAN.
This MoU between ASEAN and FIFA is an update of the MoU that has been in place since 2019 between ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and FIFA President Gianni Infantino which took place at the IMPACT Arena, Bangkok Nonthaburi, Thailand.
“Furthermore, I very much look forward to increased efforts and collaboration, especially following the recent inauguration of the FIFA Jakarta office. This office marks a new chapter in our partnership, and I am confident that this collaboration will produce great results for football fans in throughout our region,” he said.
“Let’s take advantage of this opportunity to shape the future of football cooperation in ASEAN, fostering unity, inclusiveness and excellence. I hope we all make useful considerations and look forward to the positive results that will surely emerge from joint efforts,” said Menpora Dito.
“Together, we can create a road map that not only strengthens relations between ASEAN countries and FIFA but also raises the standard of football in our region,” added Menpora Dito.
Director of FIFA MA Asia & Oceania, Sanjeevan Balasingam, was pleased to be able to meet at the MoU renewal event between ASEAN-FIFA which was implemented four years ago.
“Today I am proud to be here with ladies and gentlemen at the ASEAN-FIFA MoU renewal workshop which was held four years ago in Bangkok. We are together to continue this cooperation and collaboration,” he said.
“But this beautiful football has a positive social impact, advancing the football industry in the ASEAN region and can also increase the strong network of governments in the ASEAN region. Then ASEAN becomes an important partner for FIFA to continue, develop, collaborate with the development of football, especially in ASEAN,” he added. (AT Network)
