ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia and Australia continue to expand cooperation between the two countries, including in the defense sector.
In this context, the Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, H.E. Richard Marles MP meets the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, at his office in Jakarta, Friday, 23 February 2024.
The meeting was a discussion and discussion regarding bilateral defense relations between the two countries.
Prabowo assessed that the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and Australia is very good and very close.
“We are talking about the possibility of improving this relationship. “And we are planning in the not too distant future to sign a maintenance cooperation agreement with Australia which we most likely hope to complete and sign in two to three months,” said Prabowo.
Meanwhile, Richard Marles explained that the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between the two countries which is currently in process has made great progress in its planning and is planned to be signed in the next few months.
“Indonesia and Australia are close neighbors who have good relations. “Therefore, Australia wishes to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in various sectors such as education, military, economics and others,” continued Richard Marles regarding bilateral strengthening.
Previous Tuesday, 20 February 2024, Minister Prabowo received a courtesy visit from the Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defense Force, General Angus J. Campbell, who discussed defense-related issues. (ATN)
