Eramet Group CEO Christel Bories conveyed this wish when he met Minister Rosan in Jakarta on Monday, February 3 2025.

Rosan explained that Eramet’s investment plans include exploring new areas in South Sulawesi and Papua, as well as developing the Responsible Green Electric Vehicle (RGEV) project involving various strategic partners.

For information, Eramet previously announced that the company had decided not to invest in the electric vehicle battery raw material factory project in Weda Bay, Central Halmahera, North Maluku. The nickel-cobalt smelter project worth US$ 2.6 billion was originally to be carried out with the German chemical manufacturer, BASF SE.

Eramet stated that after conducting an in-depth assessment, including the project implementation strategy, the two partners decided not to make this investment. Eramet emphasized that it will continue to evaluate investment potential in the nickel battery value chain for electric vehicles in Indonesia and will continue to provide information to the market in due course.
