Fadli Zon: Israel Has Hurt the Hearts of the Indonesian People

Fadli Zon. Doc

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Hospital in the Jabaliya area, Gaza Strip, since Monday, November 20 2023 has been the target of indiscriminate attacks by Israeli troops (IDF). There are at least 6,000 people including staff and doctors and up to 700 patients taking shelter inside.

To date, as many as 12 people have died as a result of Israel’s brutal actions, including patients, and dozens have been injured.

Responding to this incident, the Chairman of the Indonesian Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency, Fadli Zon, condemned in the strongest terms this barbaric act.

“Israel’s attack on the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza deeply hurt the Indonesian people. It must be remembered that the total funds for building the hospital reached 126 billion rupiah. It all comes from the contributions of the Indonesian people. “This attack hurt and also means declaring war on the Indonesian people,” said Fadli in an official statement, in Jakarta, on Wednesday, November 22 2023.

Fadli Zon also fully supports the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, who is and continues to try to obtain the latest developments at the Gaza Hospital, including the fate of the three Indonesian citizens there.

According to him, the steps taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs primarily ensure the safety of those in the hospital. Therefore, Fadli urged the UN Security Council to immediately intervene so that the massacre by Israel at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital does not happen again.

“What Israel is doing is unreasonable, beyond imagination, barbaric, cannot be justified from any perspective. “This is a barbaric attack as well as blatantly violating international humanitarian law and also the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949,” stressed Fadli.

Fadli Zon, who is also Vice President of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds, a global parliamentary network for Palestine, emphasized that Israel’s attacks on Palestine increasingly emphasize the urgency of bringing Israel to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“Israel’s attack on the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza further confirms Israel as a war criminal and perpetrator of genocide. “The proposal that Indonesia complain about Israel to the ICC must be considered,” he continued.

On the other hand, Fadli Zon welcomed the plan to agree on a ceasefire for 4 days. This ceasefire is crucial to allow more humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as the evacuation of victims who require further treatment, including efforts to free prisoners. (AT Network)
