ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) officially issued a haram fatwa regarding products affiliated with Israel. Buying pro-Israel products means supporting the resistance against Palestine. And this is haram.
MUI Chair for Fatwa Asrorun Niam Sholeh emphasized that the fatwa was a form of commitment to support the struggle for independence of the Palestinian people.
“Supporting parties who are known to support Israeli aggression, either directly or indirectly, such as by purchasing products from manufacturers who actually support Israeli aggression is haram,” said Niam when delivering the results of the MUI fatwa in Jakarta, Friday (10/11/2023). quoted from Antara.
He appealed to Muslims as much as possible to avoid transactions or using Israeli products and those affiliated with Israel and those that support colonialism. Even now, support for Palestinian independence is legally mandatory.
“So we must not support parties who are fighting against Palestine, including the use of products whose results actually support the killing of Palestinians.” he said.
The complete MUI Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law on Supporting the Palestinian Struggle is as follows:
1. Supporting the struggle for Palestinian independence against Israeli aggression is obligatory
2. Support as stated in point (1) includes distributing zakat, infaq and alms for Palestine
3. Zakat funds must be distributed to mustahik who are around the muzakki. In the event of an emergency or urgent need, zakat funds may be distributed to mustahik who are further away, such as for the Palestinian cause.
4. Supporting Israeli aggression against Palestine or parties supporting Israel, either directly or indirectly, is haram. (AT Network)
