ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed a joint commitment to uphold regional stability in Southeast Asia during a bilateral meeting with President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday 5, 2025.
This official visit by the Cambodian Senate President served as a strategic moment to strengthen bilateral ties and regional cooperation. President Prabowo warmly welcomed Hun Sen, recalling their last meeting in Phnom Penh in September 2024.
“It is a great honor for me and the Government of Indonesia to welcome Your Excellency to our country. I am pleased to meet again since our last encounter in Cambodia last year,” said President Prabowo Subianto.
During the talks, President Prabowo expressed high appreciation for Hun Sen’s strategic role in promoting peace in Southeast Asia. He also welcomed Hun Sen’s upcoming plans to share insights on Cambodia’s peace process and the region’s role in academic and regional forums in Jakarta, including at the School of Government and the ASEAN Secretariat.
“Your Excellency’s contributions will enrich our joint efforts to safeguard peace, stability, and prosperity in Southeast Asia,” President Prabowo emphasized.
President Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to the principles of dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful conflict resolution. He recalled Indonesia’s active role in supporting peace in Cambodia during the 1980s and 1990s—a commitment that remains steadfast today.
