ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Economic ties between Indonesia and Russia are set to deepen with the launch of a major business and investment forum in Jakarta. The event is part of the 13th Joint Commission Meeting on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.
More than 100 delegates from Russia, representing private companies, state-owned enterprises, government agencies, and ministries, are scheduled to attend. The forum presents a strategic opportunity to enhance bilateral economic cooperation between the two nations.
“This Monday, we will hold a very large business forum, and a substantial Russian delegation is arriving over the next few days—over 100 participants from various sectors,” said Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, during the Cosmonautics Day ceremony at Yuri Gagarin Monument, Taman Mataram, Jakarta, on Saturday, April 12.
A Milestone Event After Six Years
Ambassador Tolchenov emphasized the significance of the forum, as it marks the first high-level economic meeting in nearly six years. It offers a timely platform to recalibrate trade and investment strategies between Indonesia and Russia amid evolving global dynamics.
“This is the right time to align our efforts in promoting bilateral cooperation and to resolve minor issues that require mutual attention,” he added.
During the business forum, both countries are expected to explore new trade opportunities and identify potential investment projects in Indonesia and Russia. The forum will also serve as a venue to address global trade challenges, including tariff-related disputes, while seeking new growth avenues.
“This is an excellent moment for us to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations, boost our trade volumes, and identify promising investment opportunities in both countries,” Tolchenov stated.
Celebrating 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations
The 13th Joint Commission Meeting is also part of the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia, commemorated in 2025. This milestone year reinforces the commitment of both nations to expand not only economic cooperation but also political and cultural ties. (AT Network)
