ASIATODAY.ID, RIYADH – Indonesia is calling for real action and concrete action by Islamic countries that are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League in supporting Palestinian independence.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Anis Matta at the Preparatory Meeting for the Extraordinary OIC-Arab League Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 10 2024.
“The Palestinian struggle for independence was the basis for the formation of the OIC. “That is why, we are all Palestinian and must help the Palestinian struggle,” said Anis Matta, quoted from MOFA.
Anis emphasized the importance of this concrete action to stop Israel’s never-ending oppression of the Palestinian people.
“Words must be immediately translated into concrete actions, including ensuring sustainable humanitarian assistance for Palestine,” he said.
Anis Matta led the Indonesian delegation at the OIC-Arab League Extraordinary Summit Preparatory Meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Extraordinary Summit was held on Monday local time to discuss the efforts of the two bodies to stop Israeli atrocities in Palestine and Lebanon.
Anis said that the summit was held in a crucial situation amidst the current geopolitical dynamics.
He also said that his presence at the summit represented President Prabowo Subianto.
The Summit Preparatory Meeting was led by Saudi Arabia and attended by representatives of OIC and Arab League member countries such as Algeria, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine and Turkey.
“Indonesia’s presence at the Extraordinary Summit is in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to always reject colonialism and strive for world peace, as well as President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to realizing Palestinian independence,” said the MOFA statement. (AT Network)
