ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia has succeeded in ranking sixth in the list of countries with the best culinary delights in 2023, according to the Taste Atlas Awards 23/24.
This global food hunting site releases annual rankings of the best cuisines, dishes, food cities, food products and ingredients, as well as legends and cookbooks from around the world.
It was recorded that there were around 395,205 (271,819 valid) dish ratings and 115,660 (80,863 valid) food product ratings that were assessed, then the best ranking order was decided in the list of 100 Best Cuisines in the World.
Apart from being ranked sixth in ‘Best Cuisines in the World’, Indonesia also managed to occupy the top ranking in several categories, namely:
- Best Snacks Batagor was selected as the best snack in the ‘Best Snacks’ category. Apart from batagor, pempek is also in fifth place.
- Best Street Foods in the ‘Best Street Foods’ category, dumplings managed to rank first, followed by batagor in second place.
- Best Condiments in the food complement category, Indonesian fried onions were selected as ‘Best Condiments’, beating Italian balsamic vinegar.
- Best soups, a typical dish originating from East Java, Rawon, managed to rank fourth in the ‘Best Soups’ category.
- Best Salads in the ‘Best Salads’ category, pecel managed to rank second. This food, which consists of vegetables and peanut sauce, is a typical Javanese food.
- Best Fish Dishes in the ‘Best Fish Dishes’ category, Pempek, a typical Palembang food is ranked third, beating maguro nigiri sushi which comes from Japan.
- Best Dumplings in the ‘Best Dumplings’ category, dumplings managed to rank first. In Indonesia, siomay is synonymous and known as a typical food from West Java, especially the city of Bandung. (AT Network)
