ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – An Interpol fugitive from China with the initials LS was arrested by Jakarta Immigration officers in an apartment in the Cempaka Putih area, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 7 2023.
This fugitive is a perpetrator of economic crimes in China.
“The person concerned has been on the Wanted List for People from China since 2020. LS is involved in economic crimes in China,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Immigration Division, Sandi Andaryadi in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 21 2023.
Sandi said that LS was known to not have immigration documents in the form of a passport and residence permit. Apart from that, the person concerned should be suspected of committing immigration violations as intended in Article 71 of Law Number 6 of 2011.
“LS will soon be deported as soon as possible because the person concerned is also included in the deterrence list as intended in Article 75 of the 2011 Law on Immigration,” explained Sandi.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office, Wahyu Hidayat, said that the person concerned will only be living in Indonesia until October 2023. From LS’s confession, he works as an investor.
“He has been to Indonesia several times with different residence permits,” said Wahyu.
The officers made the arrest because they were suspicious of LS. The officer immediately went to the person concerned and asked for his passport.
Wahyu said that LS could not show immigration documents. Then the officers immediately arrested the person concerned, who at that time lived alone.
Furthermore, Wahyu explained that during the passport and residence permit inspection it was discovered that the person concerned had not been living at the address stated on his residence permit.
Next, the officers imposed immigration administrative action in the form of detention in the local detention room.
Apart from detention, LS will also be given immigration administration action in the form of deportation accompanied by deterrence as in Article 75 paragraph 3 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration which states that deportation can be carried out on foreigners who try to avoid threats and execution of punishment in their home country.
“The deportation of LS will be carried out after coordinating with Interpol through the Directorate General of Immigration. The Central Jakarta Immigration Office continues to be committed to increasing supervision of foreigners living in the Central Jakarta area,” explained Wahyu.
Wahyu said that his party wants the Central Jakarta area to be a conducive area, supporting the national economy, and not becoming a place for international fugitives to escape. (AT Network)
