ASIATODAY.ID, SAN FRANCISCO – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took the time to meet the Chairman of Exxon Mobil Corporation Darren Woods at the Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco, United States, Wednesday, November 15 2023.
During the meeting, plans for decarbonization cooperation through the construction of a green petrochemical refinery and carbon capture storage (CCS) were discussed.
“I appreciate the cooperation plan to build a green petrochemical refinery and carbon capture storage (CSS) with a value of up to $15 billion,” said President Jokowi at the meeting.
The CSS facility is planned to be one of the largest in Southeast Asia, while the green petrochemical refinery is one of the most advanced in the world.
“I am pleased to hear that the CCS facility will be the largest in Southeast Asia and Exxon’s petrochemical complex will be one of the most advanced in the world,” he added.
In a separate statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, said that during the meeting, President Jokowi also invited Exxon Mobil Corporation to be involved in developing new, renewable energy and green infrastructure in Indonesia, including in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
“The President also invited ExxonMobil to invest in new and renewable energy and also green infrastructure development,” said Retno. (AT Network)
