ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Bali Urban Subway LRT project with an initial investment of US$ 10.8 billion officially started in line with the Ngeruwak Ceremony which was held at the Kuta Parking Center on Wednesday, September 4 2024.
President Director of PT Sarana Bali Dwipa Jaya (SBDJ), Ari Askhara, said the ceremony was a sign of the start of the project which was initiated in February 2024.
This project puts forward the concept of sustainable development which is in line with the values of Tri Hita Karana, namely maintaining a balanced relationship with the Creator, fellow humans and nature.
“In realizing this commitment, the Bali Urban Subway will use underground infrastructure construction that is considered most appropriate to Bali’s geographical and cultural conditions, as well as maintaining the beauty of the environment,” said Ari, Wednesday, September 4 2024.
The initial investment value of the Bali Urban Subway project reached US$ 10.8 billion, which will be built in four phases.
Phase One consists of the route I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport – Kuta Sentral Parking – Seminyak – Berawa – Cemagi with a total length of 16 km.
Phase Two, which is 13.5 km long, has the route I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport – Jimbaran – Unud – Nusa Dua.
Phase Three and Phase Four are still in the feasibility study (FS) stage.
Participation of High Speed Train Contractors
The Bali Urban Subway LRT project is said to involve the contractor China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), which is also working on the WHOOSH Fast Train, in the construction of train-based mass public transportation facilities on the island of Bali.
Ari Askhara said the company had appointed PT Indotek as the main contractor with CRCC which would work together with local contractor PT Sinar Bali Bina Karya (Sinar Bali).
Meanwhile, the Bali Urban Subway Project was realized at the initiation of the Bali Provincial Government which was then followed up by SBDJ in collaboration with PT Bumi Indah Prima (BIP).
“We see that Indotek has the technical capabilities to work on a project of this size, while we chose CRCC because it has a reputation as a global rail transportation contractor with experience building 200,000 km in more than 100 countries,” said Ari.
He added that Sinar Bali is a local Balinese contractor providing ready mix and precast since 1995.
“The selection of local contractors is a realization of the Consortium’s commitment to empower and develop Bali’s original resources,” he said. (AT Network)
