ASIATODAY.ID, TEL AVIV — Israeli newspaper Haaretz has reported that Israel is preparing for further Iranian missile attacks and will shift its energy sector into emergency mode.
According to Haaretz, the announcement is expected to be delivered by Israel’s Energy Minister Eli Cohen in response to the ongoing Iranian strikes.
The emergency measures reportedly include scaling down refinery operations and temporarily suspending parts of the country’s natural gas infrastructure.
As cited by Al Jazeera, the report states that Israel’s Bazan Group has shut down portions of its Haifa refinery facilities.
Minister Cohen has also ordered a temporary halt to several offshore gas platforms and is expected to formally declare a state of emergency in the natural gas sector.
The escalation follows a joint strike launched by Israel and the United States early Saturday local time. In retaliation, Iran carried out counterattacks targeting several U.S. military bases across the Middle East.
Iran’s retaliatory strikes reportedly targeted locations in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, marking a significant widening of tensions in the region.
The situation continues to develop as regional security concerns intensify. (AT Network)
