ASIATODAY.ID, BEIRUT – The Israeli military deployed phosphorus bombs to several villages in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon, accompanied by airstrikes on villages in Tire that caused many fires on Saturday, October 26, 2024, according to local media.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted several areas around the villages of Al-Ayshiyeh, Sajd, and Jermak, in the Jezzine district located in the Southern Governorate.
A heavy attack on the Qatrani area caused a power outage in several towns and caused a fire in the Joura Khadr forest area, the news agency added.
In Marjayoun, Nabatiyeh Governorate, Israeli airstrikes hit the Adaisseh area and the outskirts of Taybeh.
In Hasbaya, shelling with phosphorus ammunition targeted the area around Halta City and Wadi Khansa, while an airstrike also hit East Zoutr in Nabatiyeh.
The Lebanese news agency reported heavy shelling in Ban between the villages of Majdal Zoun and Shamaa, and sparked another fire.
Israeli forces also targeted a bulldozer clearing a road in Rashknaniya, although no injuries were reported.
Israel has stepped up its airstrikes in Lebanon since last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, escalating the year-long war between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Israel escalated the conflict this year by launching an attack on southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.
After more than a year of bombardment and destruction in Gaza, Israel has killed nearly 43,000 people and wounded more than 100,000 others, according to an official tally by the Palestinian Health Authority. (AT Network)
