The volcanic ash that came out of the peak of Mount Semeru on Tuesday afternoon reached a height of 800 meters each. Meanwhile, the third eruption occurred on Wednesday morning with the height of volcanic ash reaching 700 meters above the mountain peak.
In terms of seismic activity, from early Wednesday morning to 06.00 WIB, 16 earthquakes or eruptions occurred.

He asked the public not to carry out any activities in the southeast sector along Besuk Kobokan, 13 kilometers from the peak (center of the eruption). Beyond this distance, people do not carry out activities within 500 meters of the river bank or river border along Besuk Kobokan, because they have the potential to be affected by the expansion of hot clouds and lava flows up to a distance of 17 kilometers from the peak.
“The public is asked not to do activities within a 5 kilometer radius of the crater or peak of Mount Semeru Volcano because it is prone to the danger of throwing incandescent rocks,” he appealed.
Apart from that, residents are asked to be aware of the potential for hot clouds to fall, lava avalanches and lava along rivers or valleys that originate at the peak of Mount Semeru Volcano.
“Especially along Besuk Kobokan, Besuk Bang, Besuk Kembar and Besuk Sat, as well as the potential for lava in small rivers which are tributaries of Besuk Kobokan,” he said.
