ASIATODAY.ID, MADINAH — A significant development for Indonesian pilgrims emerged following a high-level meeting between the Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Ahmad Muzani, and the Director of Affairs and Administration of Nabawi Mosque, Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khudori, in Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

Nabawi Mosque signaled its readiness to expand Indonesian-language Islamic lectures, responding to the growing presence of Indonesians in the holy city.

Currently, Nabawi Mosque offers only one official lecture in the Indonesian language. With the rising number of pilgrims, students, and Indonesian residents in Madinah, the need for more Indonesian-language sessions has become increasingly urgent.

“The leadership of Nabawi Mosque welcomed our proposal and is now studying the possibility of adding several new Indonesian-language lecture points,” Muzani said on Sunday,  November, 23, 2025.

Indonesian Pilgrims Praised for Discipline and Orderliness

During the meeting, Sheikh Al-Khudori expressed high appreciation for Indonesian pilgrims, noting that they consistently maintain discipline and adhere to the rules set by Saudi authorities during the hajj and umrah seasons.

“He conveyed strong appreciation for Indonesian pilgrims, who are known to be highly disciplined and compliant with all regulations,” Muzani stated.

This positive evaluation strengthens the basis for expanding Indonesian-language religious services in the Prophet’s Mosque.

Enhanced Mosque Management Cooperation with Indonesia

The discussion also opened the door for a broader mosque management cooperation program between Nabawi Mosque and major mosques in Indonesia.

The planned knowledge-sharing initiative would cover:

International-standard mosque hygiene systems

Large-scale pilgrim management

Architectural and motif knowledge unique to Masjid Nabawi

Administrative and service management for worship activities

“This is very encouraging. Learning from Masjid Nabawi’s management standards will significantly enhance mosque administration in Indonesia,” Muzani said.

Indonesia Proposes Imam and Muezzin Training Program

Indonesia further proposed a specialized training program for Indonesian imams and muezzins, facilitated by Nabawi Mosque and Al-Haram Mosque. The initiative aims to strengthen the quality of Quranic recitation and adhan performance in Indonesia, inspired by the exemplary standards of the two holy mosques.

Muzani noted that such training would require preparation and strict standardization before being implemented.

Indonesia Reiterates Request for Additional Hajj Quota

In the same discussion, the Indonesian delegation also reiterated the national aspiration for an expansion of Indonesia’s hajj quota, considering the long waiting lists and high demand among Indonesian Muslims.

Muzani affirmed that the relationship between Indonesia and the leadership of Nabawi Mosque will continue to be strengthened through ongoing discussions and follow-up cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by: Hidayat Nur Wahid, Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, Abdul Wachid, Deputy Chair of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Kamrussamad, Member of the MPR RI and Representatives of the Saudi Shura Council. (AT Network)
