ASIATODAY.ID, LOMBOK – A tourist from Taiwan was found dead while snorkeling in the waters of Gili Air, North Lombok, on Tuesday, June 25 2024.
The victim, known as Fang Jhih Jie (33), was found lying on his back and motionless on the seabed at around 12.00 WITA.
Penang Sector Police Chief Inspector Hadi Suprayitno said that the victim who was staying at Youpy Bungalow borrowed snorkeling equipment at around 10.30 WITA.
“About two hours later, another tourist who was snorkeling in the area saw the victim lying on the seabed,” said Hadi Suprayitno. Wednesday, June 26 2024.
The witness then shouted and told other tourists around the location about the incident. Next, the victim was evacuated to land and Youpy Bungalow contacted the Gili Air Center clinic.
First aid efforts with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were carried out by clinic medical personnel, but the victim showed no response and was declared dead.
“The clinic health staff estimated that the victim had died when he was found,” said Hadi.
The victim’s body was then evacuated to Bhayangkara Hospital by the Selamat Sector Police and the Gili Indah Police Post.
