ASIATODAY.ID, TAIPEI – Taiwan is ready to start a new era in 2025. Taiwanese Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai emphasized “New Hope, New Strength, New Direction” before starting a cabinet meeting, Thursday, January 2 2025.

Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai stated that with the unity and cooperation of all people and government agencies, new forces can be mobilized in new directions.

Cho Jung-tai emphasized that economic development and strengthening security are the government’s two main tasks. In terms of economic development, the country’s economic growth rate last year was estimated at 4.27%. Meanwhile, the stock market on the closing day of trading on December 31, was recorded at 23,035 points, with an increase throughout the year of 5,105 points, experiencing the largest increase in the last 25 years, and market capitalization exceeded NTD 80 trillion.

However, behind these economic and stock market growth figures, the government must also pursue fair social distribution, so that economic growth can be enjoyed by all people. This will be the direction of the government’s future work.

In terms of strengthening security, the government will continue to promote the “Five Actions and Seven Security” policy, especially efforts to eradicate fraud and narcotics which still require improvement. Furthermore, these steps will continue to be fought for, and various strategies and actions will continue to be launched to achieve the “Seven Security”.

Apart from the economic and security sectors, Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai conveyed several other important things.

First, in the field of price stabilization so that every individual can improve their quality of life.

Second, narrow the gap between rich and poor people.

Third, encourage urban renewal and reconstruction of old buildings at risk, which is an important work to change the face of the city.

Fourth, complete a safe and stable second energy transition for electricity supply.

Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai also expressed views on new powers and new directions.

There are four new sources of power that he mentioned. First, the belief in maintaining the constitutional order; Second, protecting the people’s rights as regulated in the constitution, where the government shows full determination to defend them; Third, continue to assume responsibility for strengthening national defense and increasing state power; Fourth, government policies that are fully oriented towards caring for and developing society, to provide greater power encouragement.

Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai further explained that the government also has other new directions.

First, establish closer relations with democratic partner countries, and develop new economic and trade cooperative relations between Taiwan and the United States.

Second, just as the “Social Defense Resilience Commission” has been established at the Presidential Palace, a working group will also be established under the Executive Yuan.

Third, maintaining cross-strait communications with the principles of equality, dignity and order. This goal will not change.

Fourth, create a rational, friendly and safe work environment, so that the culture in the civil service system in government agencies can change completely.

Fifth, long-term care policy 3.0 is not only an increase in quantity, but also quality, which will continue to be developed starting from family, social welfare, to medical services.

Sixth, encourage the Smart Country 2.0 policy, to realize the concept of “Smart Technology Island, New Digital Society” in technological and industrial aspects.

Finally, the third stage of greenhouse gas control targets will begin to be implemented in stages this year. (AT Network)
