ASIATODAY.ID, BATAM – The Indonesian Tourism Industry continues to rise and is ready to become number one in Asia. Various breakthroughs in destination development continue to be made, one of which is Nirup Island. This island has been successfully developed into a very exotic green destination.
The Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, appreciated the development of Nirup Island as a green destination in Batam, Riau Islands.
“We see a prototype of a sustainable green destination because what we saw earlier is that there is not a single drop of water that is not well managed. We also see that this tourism ecosystem is very close to Singapore,” he said after visiting Nirup Island in Batam, Riau Islands, Monday, January 1 2024.
Nirup Island is 13 kilometers from Sentosa Beach in Singapore. This island has many advantages, such as clear water, a beautiful island, the presence of beautiful and natural coral reefs, making it suitable for tourists who like underwater activities.
Nirup Island also has a tourism port which is equipped with immigration and customs facilities so that it will make it easier for foreign tourists to enter this area. This island also has a marina and is equipped with parking facilities for cruise ships or yachts which can accommodate 180 ships.
According to Sandiaga, sustainable tourism is a trend that is currently the main attraction for tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, Sandiaga appreciates the Tourism Industry in Batam which continues to be committed to advancing the Indonesian tourism sector.
Nirup Island, whose management will be handled by Westin, is planned to be operational in October 2024.
“The investment is very large and it is hoped that in October 2024 it can start operating, and I am here to appreciate and motivate the revival of tourism here. “Because it is now operational, in the future the islands around Nirup such as Behindpadang will also have an impact,” he said.
“We also ensure that the Riau Islands have premium destinations to attract more foreign tourists to Batam,” he said. (AT Network)
